DENSE MEMBRANES JOIN LINEUP

Now available in the United States, a new line of dense polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) membranes expands Nobel Biocare’s (800-322-5001; nobelbiocare.com) portfolio of regenerative products. The creos syntoprotect dense PTFE membranes are designed to withstand exposure to the oral cavity for extraction socket management when primary closure is not possible. The line includes 13 shapes of titanium-reinforced dense PTFE membranes for ridge augmentations and grafting large osseous defects. These titanium-reinforced membranes are easy to trim, shape and position.

HIGH-VOLUME EVACUATION RETROFIT

DENTALEZ (866-383-4636; dentalez.com) now offers the easy-to-use extraoral Forest Hands-Free high-volume evacuator (HVE) holder that can fit just about any dental chair quickly and easily. The Forest Hands-Free HVE holder offers an extra layer of at-the-source high-volume suction during aerosol-generating procedures, allowing the user to position the HVE with ease and precision, with or without supplemental staff. Easy to clean, the holder is compatible with most patient chairs and comes with a simple plug-and-play kit that includes everything needed to assemble and use.

INSTRUMENT SET FOR CLEAR ALIGNERS

HuFriedyGroup (800-Hu-Friedy; hu-friedy.com) has expanded the Clear Collection instrument set with five new instruments designed to enhance the adaptability of clear aligners. Like the original instruments in the Clear Collection set, these new designs were created to make it easier to manipulate invisible aligners without the need to heat the instrument. The expanded lineup provides new options for enhancing aligner treatment in unique ways. The Spot creates a tiny, rounded dimple for spot contacts to accent small individual tooth movements or added aligner retention. The Petite Punch cuts a 4.5-mm half-moon cutout in an aligner for relief of the plastic around bonded buttons used for elastics. The Clockwise Wedge and Counter Clockwise Wedge are used to produce indents in the facial and lingual plastic for the rotational movement of a specific tooth. The Eraser is designed to reverse or remove unwanted indents placed by other instruments in the Clear Collection series.

GREAT TASTING VARNISH

Expanding its line of varnish flavors, VOCO (888-658-2584; voco.dental) has added pina colada, a mix of pineapples and coconuts, to its current lineup of caramel, mint, cherry, bubblegum, melon and cola lime flavors. This new pina colada varnish is packaged in the same easy-to-use, single-patient delivery system and provides the same quick uptake formula. Profluorid varnish features low film thickness and a smooth feel for the patient.

ELECTRIC TOOTHBRUSH DEBUTS

The BLACK Is WHITE Hydrosonic toothbrush from Curaprox (800- 919-0120; curaden.us) with carbon brush heads features a two-minute timer and two-week battery life. Offering three intensity levels for up to 84,000 brush movements per minute, it comes with two brush heads. The innovative water drop-shaped design of the brush heads envelops each individual tooth, and proprietary CURACURVE ergonomics make it easy to clean hard-to-reach areas. In addition, the brush heads’ rubberized back prevents unpleasant vibrations.

HANDS-FREE SUCTION SYSTEM

Ivory ReLeaf Minis from Kulzer (800-431-1785; kulzerus.com) can be used with the company’s Ivory ReLeaf hands-free suction system when treating pediatric patients and adults with small arches. The ReLeaf Mini Leaf, which is approximately 25% smaller than the conventional Leaf but fits the ReLeaf system’s same U-shaped connector, is designed to work comfortably with pediatric patients, older adults, patients with temporomandibular joint disorders, and individuals with special needs. ReLeaf Mini refills come in a 100- count package featuring an assortment of green, magenta and light blue colors.
