New York University College of Dentistry is now using surgical robots for dental implant surgeries. This technology — called Yomi — will allow pre- and postdoctoral students to learn how robotic technology can augment clinical practice. Yomi is indicated for use in adult patients who meet screening criteria for dental implant therapy. Students will use Yomi to learn how this technology can enhance patient care due to its precision during the surgical process. The system uses special software to help preoperatively plan treatment, and provides visual and physical intraoperative guidance throughout the procedure in real time to help ensure optimal outcomes.
