Featuring a small footprint, automated aspiration, and a display with auditory signals for speed and pressure, Calaject was developed to deliver more comfortable injections for patients and providers. The system controls the flow rate, which ensures smooth and gentle anesthesia delivery. Calaject features three program settings that are designed for the most common techniques used in dentistry: intraligamental and palatal injections, infiltrations, and nerve block anesthesia. In addition, the unit’s pen grip allows the operator to sit in a relaxed and ergonomic position while injecting. Automated delivery eliminates finger and muscle fatigue, and the handpiece also allows good finger support, which aids precise ­needle positioning — further facilitating optimal analgesia during dental care.

SIMPLE AND EFFECTIVE POWER TOOTHBRUSH

Offered under the Curaprox brand, Curaden (800-919-0120; curaden.us) announces the launch of the new Hydrosonic Easy, the latest addition to its innovative lineup of power toothbrushes. Described as uncomplicated, yet technologically advanced, the Hydrosonic Easy delivers up to 84,000 brush movements per minute via three brushing modes. Intuitive, single-button operation, droplet-shaped brush heads, and what the company characterizes as hydrodynamic action allow patients to effectively clean teeth and even reach interdental spaces.

ORTHODONTIC CLEAR ALIGNER SOLUTIONS 

StarAligners (877-425-4468; staraligners.com) offers orthodontic solutions for treating mild to moderate aligner cases with its StarAlignersPro. The system is designed for patients who may need a posttreatment tune-up through a lineup that includes 3D Customized Smile Summary, Aligner Kits, Whitening Foam and Star Essix Retainers. StarAlignersPro is said to give clinicians more control and flexibility in treatment planning via its Star Portal case management system. Offering sustained force for predictable tooth movement, StarAlignersPro differs from the competition with custom, clear aligners made of Zendura FLX, which StarAligners claims is the clearest aligner material available.

THREE-DIMENSIONAL PRINTERS OFFER SPEED AND ACCURACY

Pushing the boundaries of digital dentistry, Carbon (650-285-6307; carbon3d.com) is launching its M-Series three-dimensional (3D) printers that leverage next-generation digital light synthesis (DLS) printing technology. These new printers provide up to 2.5x throughput improvements compared to previous-generation technology. Available in two models, the M3 and M3 Max, these units offer an advanced production platform when combined with the Carbon Design Engine and Carbon DLS materials. The M3 is designed for fast printing, a simple print experience, and improved cross-build consistency. The M3 Max offers these same benefits, as well as a true 4K light engine that doubles the build area with the same pixel size and density. Both 3D printers utilize a wide range of high-performance materials tailored to dental office and laboratory needs.

RESORBABLE BONE GRAFTING PLUG

Ultradent (888-230-1420; ultradent.com) is now distributing the OsteoGen Plug by Impladent Ltd. The OsteoGen Plug is a dental bone grafting plug that combines non-ceramic OsteoGen bioactive resorbable calcium apatite crystals with a Type I bovine Achilles tendon collagen matrix. The bioactive calcium apatite crystals create a structure that mimics the organic and inorganic characteristics of actual bone. In addition, the material is resorbable, allowing it to be replaced by bone tissue within a few months. The OsteoGen plug is radiolucent when placed, but will become radiopaque within three to five months when it has been replaced with host bone tissue — at which point dentists can proceed with implant placement.
