3M Oral Care (800-634-2249; 3M.com) brings the convenience of a tablet to intraoral scanning with its new 3M Mobile True Definition Scanner. Featuring a compact, ergonomic wand that’s said to be comfortable for clinicians and patients, the tablet-based scanner is rechargeable, so it can be moved freely between
operatories sans power cords or carts. Another advantage is that it can be placed directly in patients’ hands, giving them digital visualization of their oral anatomy. This is said to help raise case acceptance as dental teams explain proposed treatment.
DUAL-CURE RESIN CEMENT OFFERS RELIABLE BONDING
G-CEM LinkForce is the latest resin cement from GC America (800-323-7063; gcamerica.com). This new dual-cure adhesive offers high bond strength thanks to efficient light curing, while its self-cure mode is useful when cementing opaque or thick restorations. G-CEM LinkForce comes in four shades with corresponding try-in pastes, and its color reportedly will remain stable over time. This product is designed for cementation of all-ceramic, resin- and metal-based inlays, onlays, crowns and bridges. It is also indicated for cementation of all-ceramic and composite veneers, as well as permanent cementation of crowns and bridges
on implant abutments.
ULTRASONIC TECHNOLOGY PROMISES QUIET CLEANING
SciCan (800-572-1211; scican.com) has debuted its StatClean Ultrasonic Cleaner. With a 1.6-gallon tank and self-docking lid, StatClean can hold a variety of instruments in its hands-free drying basket. According to SciCan, the unit’s 4.5-mm-thick plastic housing makes StatClean one of the quietest ultrasonic units available. Two ultrasonic transducers provide uniform distribution of ultrasonic waves for excellent cleaning. In addition, twin ceramic heaters are mounted under the tank for safe and even heating, while dual fans improve heat dissipation. The unit’s LED display shows temperature and timer settings, and users can also view the tank’s solution temperature.
DUAL SIDE VENTS HELP ELIMINATE SOFT-TISSUE INJURIES
Practicon (800-959-9505;practicon.com) announces its Screen-Vent HVE Aspirator Tips, a new line of screened and vented tips that is designed to maintain suction while eliminating aspiration of crowns and other restorative materials into high-speed evacuation lines.The product also features dual side vents near the tip to protect oral mucosa from suction-related injuries by minimizing grabbing of the tongue and other soft tissue.
NEW OCCLUSAL APPLIANCE IS ENGINEERED FOR COMFORT
Billed as the solution to poor-fitting, uncomfortable splints, the Rhea Precision Comfort-fit Occlusal Appliance from Great Lakes (800-828-7626; greatlakesortho.com) is said to combine the accuracy of a laboratory-made splint with the ease of a boil-and-bite appliance. The company claims the appliance will reform to subtle differences in the patient’s dentition and compensate for slight inaccuracies in impressions, as well as deformities caused by plaster expansion. Each appliance is custom-formed to an original model, which means chairside seating is only necessary to fine-tune the fit.
DENTAL IMPLANTS BOAST CORONAL TEXTURING OPTIONS
Zimmer Biomet Dental (800-342-5454; zimmerbiometdental.com) introduces its TSVT and TSVM MP-1 HA Dental Implants. Extensions of the company’s Tapered Screw-Vent Implant family, the new implants feature Platform Plus Technology, which is said to minimize micromovement and screw-loosening, creating favorable conditions for long-term crestal bone maintenance. They are available in the same diameters and lengths as previous TSV implants, but with the following new configurations: the TSVT features MTX microtexturing, with coronal microgrooves and an MP-1 HA-coated midsection, while the TSVM offers a 0.5 mm machined collar, coronal microgrooves with an MTX surface, and an MP-1 HA-coated midsection.

In addition, its tapered shape is said to facilitate access to all restoration sites. Operating at 395 to 480 nanometers, the broadband LED system keeps the wand body cool to the touch. MEASURING DEVICE OBJECTIVELY ANALYZES ORAL MALODOR

The unit screens for three volatile sulfur compounds responsible for most cases of oral malodor — hydrogen sulfide, methyl mercaptan and dimethyl sulfide. Featuring a compact footprint, it offers accurate and objective breath analysis in short order: After the patient breathes into a disposable syringe, the sample is injected into the device and results are available in as little as four minutes.
ENHANCED ABUTMENT MAKES DENTURE CONVERSION A SNAP
Designed to reduce the chairtime required to perform a denture conversion, the Multi-Unit Abutment Plus from Nobel Biocare (800-322-5001; nobelbiocare.com) is a new enhancement of the Multi-Unit Abutment. With the introduction of a snap-fit function between the temporary cylinders and abutment, screws are no longer required during try-in. This means the time-consuming process of removing the temporary cylinders and denture several times during conversion can be accomplished in a few snaps, with no need to tighten and loosen screws each time. The new design also eases concerns about the possibility of screws dropping out.
