OSAP Announces Winners of Infection Control Leadership Awards

The Organization for Safety, Asepsis and Prevention (OSAP) has announced the winners of the OSAP Infection Control Leadership Awards.

18th Annual Dr. Milton Schaefer Award was presented to Eve J. Cuny, MS, director of environmental health and safety, assistant dean for global relations, associate professor at the University of the Pacific, Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry in San Francisco. Cuny is also a member of Dimensions of Dental Hygiene’s Peer Review Panel, and a contributor to Decisions in Dentistry. She has presented more than 200 continuing education courses throughout North America, contributed to textbooks, conducted dental infection control research, and published articles about infection control and safety in dentistry.

This award celebrates superior service to the organization, recognizing either continuous contributions over a period of time or singular accomplishments.

5th Annual Emerging Infection Control Leader Award goes to Joyce A. Moore, RDH, BSDH, CRCST, a clinical instructor in the Department of Dental Hygiene at Bristol Community College in Fall River, Massachusetts, and Dimensions of Dental Hygiene and Decisions in Dentistry contributor.

This award helps develop and promote the next generation of advocates in the field of dental infection prevention and safety by identifying outstanding new infection control leaders.

Chairman’s Citation Awards were presented by OSAP Chairman Kathy J. Eklund, RDH, MHP, director of occupational health and safety at the Forsyth Institute in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and a Dimensions of Dental Hygiene Editorial Advisory Board member. She is also an adjunct faculty member at the Dental Hygiene Program at Regis College, School of Health Sciences in Weston, Massachusetts and a Decisions in Dentistry contributor.
