FRESH APPROACH TO ROOT CANAL CLEANING AND IRRIGATION

Sonendo (844-SONENDO; sonendo.com), developer of the GentleWave endodontic system, has launched its CleanFlow instrument as a complementary device designed as a less invasive alternative to traditional root canal cleaning and irrigation. With the addition of CleanFlow technology, the GentleWave procedure helps streamline root canal therapy for a better patient experience. The device, which allows single-handed cleaning and disinfection of canal anatomy, features a low-profile head that facilitates easier access and a better approach angle for posterior teeth. Sonendo’s proprietary fluid and venting mechanism creates a reliable seal, while the advanced fluid management mechanism ensures predictable cleaning. This instrument also includes SoundCue for real-time audible indication of a good seal, and a FlowView window for improved visibility and monitoring. In addition, the new protocol eliminates the need for sealing caps and depth gauges, further simplifying endodontic workflows.

CLEANING STAND AIDS ENDODONTIC PROCEDURES

The Perfect Endo Clean Stand from Dental Creations (254-772-4661; dentalcreationsltd.com) is constructed of heat resistant autoclavable plastic. Useful for cleaning, sterilizing and staging during root canal treatment, it is designed to hold sterilizing solution, and each stand includes five sponges. Refill packs of 25 sponges are available. In addition, the design features a ring that enables a piece of gauze to be secured tightly over the top of the stand, further facilitating procedural workflows. Endodontic files can easily be dipped in the solution while the gauze simply wipes them clean.

SINGLE-USE MATRIX BANDS ENSURE TIGHT CONTACTS

When placing composites or amalgam, successful Class II restorations require tight proximal contacts and good anatomical contours. Compatible with all restorative materials, as well as wedges and rubber dams, the innovative design of SafeMatrix single-use matrix bands from Medicom (800-361-2862; medicom.com) includes a slim handle, textured grip and improved thumbscrew grooves for added convenience, better control and optimal results. A push-button diverter helps ensure tight interproximal contacts. In addition, the narrow neck and rounded edges enhance access and visibility, while eliminating the risk of injuries to the gingiva and cheeks. SafeMatrix is also suitable for cusp build-ups and as a protective shield for the neighboring tooth during preparation. SafeMatrix Contour is curved for faster placement and tighter contacts. Both SafeMatrix and SafeMatrix Contour are available in two sizes: wide (6 mm) for molars and larger restorations, and narrow (4.5 mm) for premolars and children’s teeth.

NEW MAGNETOSTRICTIVE INSERT TIPS ANNOUNCED

Pac-Dent (909-839-0888; pac-dent.com) has announced the launch of its 25K and 30K magnetostrictive ultrasonic universal insert tips. Compatible with all magnetostrictive handpieces, the new inserts are designed to enhance workflows and clinical efficiency with the company’s South East Instruments Autoscaler. Made in the United States, the Autoscaler is available in 25K and 30K models, and features a detachable handpiece assembly and precise water control. Clinicians will appreciate the new universal inserts’ base flow water delivery and nonslip grip that helps optimize tactile sensitivity during ultrasonic procedures.

LUER-LOCK BOTTLE CAP SAVES TIME AND MONEY

Vista Apex (877-615-3066; vistaapex.com), a leading provider of endodontic and restorative dental products, announces that its new Luer-Lock Bottle Cap will now be included with Vista Apex premier irrigation solutions. With the Luer-Lock Bottle Cap, syringes can be filled efficiently while avoiding drips and spills. This method transfers solutions directly from the bottle to delivery syringe without waste, saving practices time and money. The specially designed cap works with the Luer-Lock syringe to extract the appropriate amount of solution. Previously sold separately, the cap will now be included with Vista Apex’s Chlor-XTRA, EDTA, CHX Plus, and SmearOFF.

DESKTOP ULTRASONIC CLEANER DEBUTS

Billed by iSonic (847-850-0404; isonicinc.com) as the world’s smallest commercial ultrasonic cleaner with a stack transducer, the new desktop-style DS310 accommodates a standard 9-ounce polyethylene terephthalate (PET) cup to hold patients’ dentures and other appliances for in-office cleaning. This helps eliminate cross-contamination risks because the PET cup is disposable after single-patient use. Burs and files can also be cleaned in the integrated stainless steel beaker or, alternately, placed in a bur/file guard for cleaning. In addition, an optional plastic strainer attaches to the beaker for easy retrieval of items after processing. Featuring a digital timer, touch-sensing controls and a color LED display, the iSonic DS310 has an 0.8-liter tank and a powerful 55-watt transducer that provides a level of cleaning intensity surpassing that of the average ultrasonic device.
