Washington State Expands Dental Therapy

Washington Governor Jay Inslee signed HB 1678 into law on May 15, authorizing the licensure of dental therapists throughout the state. Previously, dental therapists could only practice on Tribal lands. Now, dental therapists will be able to provide care in federally qualified health centers and health center program look-alikes. While only 1% of dental providers in the United States are Tribal members, 70% of dental therapists in Washington are Native American. Click here to read more.
