California Community Colleges Take Care of Students, Including Their Teeth!
California community colleges are addressing the basic needs of their students, including access to dental care. The administration of Antelope Valley College in Lancaster sees oral health as key to student success. As such, every semester, the school offers all of its students, regardless of immigration status or whether they are insured, a voucher for dental care that can be used at a nearby dental clinic. The vouchers are typically utilized for preventive care, including prophylaxes and radiographs. Other colleges, including Pasadena City College and West LA College, offer students low- or no-cost dental care through their own dental hygiene clinics, which are staffed by students overseen by experienced faculty members. These initiatives aim not only to address immediate needs but also to support students’ long-term health and success. Click here to read more.
