More Than $50 Million to Be Spent on Increasing Access to Care in Tennessee
The University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) College of Dentistry and the Tennessee Department of Health have partnered on a $53 million program to improve access to dental care for the state’s most vulnerable populations over the next 5 years. More than 1 million residents of the Volunteer State have no access to professional dental services. The “Healthy Smiles Initiative” will increase the number of dental and dental hygiene students admitted each year with 29 faculty members added to the College of Dentistry and eight faculty members to join the UTHSC’s dental hygiene program. Rotations of dental students will also target rural and underserved areas of the state. Click here to read more.
