Want to Keep Your Brain Healthy? Make Oral Hygiene a Priority
Initial research that will be presented at the American Stroke Association’s International Stroke Conference 2023 shows that individuals with a genetic predisposition to oral health problems are more likely to demonstrate damage to the microstructure of the brain and increased risk for silent cerebrovascular disease. The study of more than 4,000 participants also found that early intervention to improve participants’ oral hygiene and thus oral health boosted brain health.
