CDC Releases Health Alert on Importance of Maintaining Dental Unit Waterlines
On October 31, the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released a Health Alert Network Health Advisory regarding the importance of effectively maintaining dental unit waterlines after an outbreak of nontuberculous Mycobacteria (NTM) infections among children who had recently received pulpotomies at dental clinics. The water tested at these clinics contained high levels of bacteria. As biofilms can easily attach to dental unit waterlines, dental practices are charged with ensuring they are properly treated to ensure the safety of the treatment water. Click here to read more.
