University at Buffalo Programs Endeavor to Increase Diversity Among Dental Providers
The University at Buffalo (UB) School of Dental Medicine offers two programs to encourage underrepresented students to consider careers in dentistry. The Destination Dental School and Native American Pre-Dental Student Gateway Programs recently hosted 30 students from diverse backgrounds who hail from across the nation for a glimpse inside the day-to-day professional life of dental providers. The programs also offer participants support in preparing dental school applications. According to UB, Latinos, African Americans, and Native Americans are underrepresented in dentistry, comprising 5%, 4%, and 0.2% of dentists in the United States. Click here to read more.
