Los Angeles Considers Bringing Mask Mandate Back as COVID-19 Cases Surge
We may be acting like COVID-19 is a bitter memory; however, the pandemic still carries on as the latest variant Omicron BA.5 quickly spreads across the United States. Public health officials in Los Angeles are considering reinstituting an indoor mask mandate as the metropolis struggles to contain a new surge. According to parameters set by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, much of Los Angeles is deemed “high risk.” Los Angeles County is averaging about 1,300 hospitalizations per day, and more than 8,600 new cases were reported on July 21.
