Nerves That Facilitate Taste Also Open the Door to SARS-CoV-2


Research from the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research found that the nerve fibers that pass information from the brain to the tongue, mouth, and throat also provide a port of entry for SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19. The fibers of these nerves are covered with proteins that enable the novel coronavirus to enter cells. This may be why a common symptom of COVID-19 is the loss of taste. Click here to read more.
