Research Shows Value of Oral Health Professionals in HPV Education
Research presented at the American Association for Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research Meeting and Exhibit on March 24 demonstrates that parents (60%) support the role of oral health professionals in educating them about the human papillomavirus (HPV) and the vaccine used to prevent infection. The study includes 300 parents residing in rural Virginia. The survey also shows significant gaps in what parents understand about HPV, the HVP vaccine, and the association between HPV and cervical and oropharyngeal cancers. The presenters suggest that oral health professionals are well-suited to have conversations on these topics with their patients. Click here to read more.
