Flu Cases Plummet Amid COVID-19 Public Health Measures
As countries across the globe adopted public health strategies to minimize the risk of COVID-19, the flu has basically disappeared. While the influenza virus and the novel coronavirus share a similar transmission route, SARS-CoV-2 is much more adept at spreading from person to person. The good news is that the number of deaths due to flu dropped tremendously from 2018-2019 (22,000 flu deaths) to 2020-2021 (600 flu deaths).
