Sixty Percent of Americans Have Never Had COVID-19
Even though the Omicron variant of SARS-CoV-2 spread like wildfire, sending daily case numbers through the roof, 60% of Americans have never been diagnosed with COVID-19. Public health experts have varying opinions on why this is. One reason is that individuals may have had COVID-19 and not known it—whether they were asymptomatic or attributed symptoms to other conditions such as allergies. Genetic factors may also play a role in protection and scientists are currently investigating this relationship.
