UCSF Dental Alumni Presented with Awards

Two University of California, San Francisco Dentistry alumni are among the 15 winners of the 2020 UCSF Campaign Alumni Awards, named by the Alumni Association of UC San Francisco. 

 Peter Milgrom ’72, DDS, topped the Innovators category for his pioneering work with silver diamine fluoride to arrest tooth decay. He also is a professor of oral health sciences and pediatric dentistry at the school. 

 Avelino Silva ’79, DDS, was honored in The Dedicated category in recognition of his 37 years serving the school as a clinic director, faculty member and admissions evaluator.

 Carmen Hipona 96,DDS, is the 2020 Medal of Honor winner, named by the UCSF Dental Alumni Association. This honor is given in recognition of exceptional dedication, service and contributions in roles related to the Dental Alumni Association, the UCSF School of Dentistry, the dental or dental hygiene professions, and to community service.
