September is Dental Infection Control Awareness Month (DICAM), and oral health professionals are encouraged to share how they take safety seriously in clinic. This month-long campaign is set to the theme of “Take Safety Viral!”
The Organization for Safety, Asepsis and Prevention (OSAP) is asking dental clinicians, consultants, educators, and members of the dental trade to promote safety and awareness that will protect both patients and practitioners.
OSAP will also showcase one specific element of dental infection control each week. Oral health professionals are invited to participate in these weekly activities by posting images focused on a theme, or a different aspect of dental infection control. The weekly themes are:
- Week one (09/01 – 09/07): Hand Hygiene
- Week two (09/08 – 09/14): Dental Unit Waterlines
- Week three (09/15 – 09/21): Personal Protective Equipment
- Week four (09/22 – 09/30): Instrument Sterilization
Post images on social media, tag OSAP (Facebook: @osap.org Twitter: @OSAPtweets Instagram: @osaporg LinkedIn: @OSAP ), and use the hashtag #DICAM19
