NIDCR Postdoctoral Fellows to Study Craniofacial Malformations
The National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDCR) has welcomed its newest NIDCR Director’s Postdoctoral Fellowship to Enhance Diversity in Dental, Oral and Craniofacial research, biochemist Jason Collins, PhD. Under the award, Collins will work for up to 5 years in the Stem Cell Biochemistry lab exploring molecular signaling pathways that underlie craniofacial disorders.
At NIDCR, Collins will work to understand the molecular signaling pathway that affects ribosome production during natural crest stem cell formation, which occurs during early embryo development leading to craniofacial malformations.
Collins previously studied how defects in the productions of ribosomes could lead to craniofacial malformations and other conditions, according to the NIDCR.
