Dental practices are reporting higher patient volumes, indicating patient confidence in returning for professional care. According to an American Dental Association Health Policy Institute (ADA HPI) poll, since the pandemic began, 88% of patients have either sought dental care or are planning to. The poll also found that patient volume is at 80% of pre-pandemic levels, and staffing is at 99% of pre-COVID-19 levels. The ADA HPI anticipates full recovery for dental practices may not happen until summer or fall, as some Americans are waiting until they are vaccinated before seeking dental care. The poll suggests it is unlikely the remaining 12% of patients will return to the dentist before COVID-19 is under control.
