New Scholarship Offered for Aspiring Dental Hygienists

The Dental Trade Alliance (DTA) Foundation, with support from the Benco Family Foundation’s $1 million legacy gift, announces a new dental hygiene scholarship program to address the shortage of dental hygienists, especially among underrepresented communities. Aimed at increasing access to dental hygiene careers, the Lawrence and Sally Cohen Endowed Scholarship Fund for Dental Hygiene will provide ongoing support for aspiring dental hygienists. Applicants, open from March 11 to April 30, 2024, are invited to share their background and goals through essays and videos. Additionally, Young Innovations will supplement the scholarship with preventive dental items, scrubs, and $500 for school supplies, easing financial burdens on scholarship winners. This initiative underscores the critical role of dental hygienists in promoting oral health and marks a collaborative effort to expand the dental hygiene profession while ensuring equitable access to care.
