University of Minnesota Receives Grant for Its Special Needs Dental Clinic

The University of Minnesota School of Dentistry’s Special Healthcare Needs Clinic (SHNC) has received a Clinical Dental Education and Innovations Grant from the Minnesota Department of Health, aimed at enhancing technological capabilities and facilities to enhance patient accessibility and efficiency in diagnosis and treatment planning. SHNC specializes in providing comprehensive dental care for older adults and patients with complex medical, developmental, and physical disabilities. The grant will facilitate updates in imaging equipment, enabling the clinic to house its panoramic X-ray and other imaging units, enhancing accessibility and efficiency. Furthermore, the clinic’s integration with the General Practice Residency and Walker Methodist Dental Clinic brings together expertise in complex patient care, aiming to establish itself as a vital training ground for future oral health professionals.
