Northeast Delta Dental is funding initiatives to address workforce shortages in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont. Northeast Delta Dental has initiated a $6 million fund for dental student loan repayments to attract more dentists to the area; a $665,000 grant to the University of Maine at Augusta to double the number of dental units in the school’s dental clinic and implement a $100,000 student scholarship program for those enrolling in the dental assisting or expanded function dental assisting programs; and a $150,000 mentorship program for students at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, which connects dental students with dentists across northern New England to receive hands-on experience and strategies for managing a small business.
