Some California Counties Initiate Vaccine Mandates for Oral Health Professionals
Two California counties, San Luis Obispo and Yolo, have issued new vaccination orders affecting dental offices and other healthcare facilities, set to take effect on November 1, 2023. These orders are intended to reduce the risk of influenza, COVID-19, and RSV infection and transmission, especially during the peak respiratory virus season. In Yolo County, an influenza vaccination order will be in effect through April 30, 2024. In San Luis Obispo County, an order mandating both influenza and COVID-19 vaccinations will be effective through April 30, 2024, and each flu season thereafter until rescinded. The orders require employers to establish and enforce compliant masking or vaccination policies in the workplace. They join existing orders in several California counties and cities. Many of these orders are renewed annually during the flu season, with varying start and end dates depending on the local health department. Oral health professionals need to stay informed about their local health department’s orders and any potential amendments or new orders. Click here to read more.
