Dental Assistant Program at Risk of Losing Accreditation
The Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) recently found the dental assisting program at Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) in Iowa to be noncompliant with sterilization standards set by the accrediting agency and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration. CODA also noted problems with maintaining one student per chair station, the provision of comprehensive faculty information, and the clarity of syllabi; however, DMACC has since corrected these issues. The school is planning on updating its facilities, including a new sterilization space, in 2024. The dental assisting program currently has 29 students. Click here to read more.
