$200,000 Grant Awarded to Virginia Dental Clinics to Address Dentist Shortages

Virginia is one of the few states to offer dental benefits to adults covered by Medicaid; however, a shortage of dentists means that many Medicaid enrollees go without professional dental services. One of the most significant issues is recruiting dentists to work in clinics that provide care to the underserved. Many dentists graduate with large amounts of student debt, which makes private practice more attractive. To combat this issue, DentaQuest, United Concordia, and Delta Dental have given a $200,000 grant to five dental clinics to help them recruit dentists.
