CDC and ADA Promote Antibiotic Stewardship

The United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the American Dental Association (ADA) have partnered to promote antibiotic stewardship among oral health professionals. The two organizations have created a new resource “Dentists: Be Antibiotics Aware — Treating Patients with Dental Pain and Swelling Fact Sheet” to help dentists make evidence-based decisions regarding the appropriate use of antibiotics. The CDC and ADA do not recommend antibiotics for patients with pain and intraoral swelling due to pulpal and periapical infections. Click here to read more.
