With Pandemic Health Emergency Over, Millions on Medicaid to Lose Health and Dental Coverage
The federal public health emergency issued in response to the global pandemic expired on April 1. During the pandemic, states were barred from eliminating individuals from Medicaid coverage, but now they can review participants’ eligibility and remove them if they do not meet certain parameters. More than 15 million Americans are expected to lose health coverage and 14 million will lose dental coverage. Evaluating participants’ eligibility for Medicaid is thought to be a time-consuming process for states. The five states expected to cut the most enrollees from their Medicaid programs are: Hawaii, Wyoming, Indiana, Florida, and Illinois. Click here to read more.
