NYU Research Takes Top Honors at STAT Madness Competition
The STAT Madness Competition, which honors innovative research in science and medicine, chose a gel designed to fight periodontal diseases developed at the New York University (NYU) College of Dentistry as the winner of the top prize. The gel targets succinate, a molecule that heightens bone loss in the presence of periodontal inflammation. Published in Cell Reports, the research used mouse models to test the gel’s effectiveness at reducing periodontitis symptoms. This is the first time research from a dental school has received the highest honor. Click here to read more.
