Should Dental Hygienists Receive Tips?


A Brooklyn, New York ophthalmologist recently authored a guest commentary for the Baltimore Sun about whether the tip jar should be expanded to include healthcare professionals. Eric Dessner, MD, specifically mentions dental hygienists, citing their high-value skill and challenging work, as reasons why they deserve additional compensation from patients. He notes that the door is shut on tips for medical doctors, dentists, and podiatrists, as they are already earning top salaries.
