China’s Zero-COVID Policy Angers Citizens
While most of the world has returned to business as usual as the urgency of the COVID-19 pandemic has waned, China has stuck to its zero-COVID policy. Now its citizens have had enough. After many Chinese took to the streets last weekend to protest some of the most exacting pandemic restrictions ever instituted, local governments have responded by easing some of the limitations on daily and public life, such as allowing those who test positive to remain at home instead of moving to quarantine centers, lifting some compulsory testing requirements, and broadening the ability to travel. China has some of the lowest COVID-19 death rates across the world, but this has required lengthy and costly stay-at-home orders. Click here to read more.
