For Those With Long COVID-19, Symptoms Endure Past 18 Months

Most individuals who experience long-term COVID-19 symptoms 12 months after the infection resolves continue to endure the same symptoms 18 months later. This revelation was discovered during a deep dive into the health outcomes of more than 33,000 Scots who tested positive for the novel coronavirus. Only 11% of those surveyed reported they had no recovery from COVID-19 at 12 months and 18 months post-infection. Half of respondents noted they had incomplete recovery at both 12 months and 18 months post-infection. The University of Glasgow research found that those most likely to experience long COVID-19 symptoms had been hospitalized and were of advanced age, female, exhibited pre-existing morbidities, and were of low socioeconomic status.
