
Monkeypox: Public Health Emergencies Issued in San Francisco and New York
As the United States struggles to contain another highly infectious disease—monkeypox—San Francisco and the state of New York have declared their own public health emergencies. The US has more than 5,000 reported cases of monkeypox with 40% in California and New York. Declaring a public health emergency can help increase vaccine and testing availability in addition to securing federal dollars to fight the spread of this virus.
