Federal Funding for Oral Health Is Safe for Now
A continuing resolution to support currently funded federal agencies, including those related to oral health, through December 11 was passed by the House and Senate and signed by the President on September 2.
With the fiscal year ending on September 30, a continuing resolution (CR), passed by the House and Senate and signed by President Trump, will continue funding federal agencies, including those related to oral health such as the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Oral Health Program, Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) Oral Health Workforce Programs, National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research, US Department of Defense Military Dental Research, and the Indian Health Service Dental Program, through December 11.
Congress will need to reach an agreement on a 2027 budget to avoid threats to these and other programs. If an agreement is not possible, another CR will need to be passed or the funding will cease.
The CR also slows implementation of a proposed Office of Management and Budget rule that would grant politicians much more say in how federal grants are allotted. This rule is now blocked until December 11, 2026. Click here to read more.
