Vaccination Against Monkeypox Begins to Contain Outbreak of Cases

As more cases of the infectious viral disease—monkeypox—pop up outside of its native west and central Africa, some nations have begun vaccination programs to ensure the outbreak remains contained. Thus far, more than 230 cases of monkeypox have been diagnosed in 19 countries. Most of these cases have resolved quickly with treatment, and monkeypox does not spread rapidly like SARS-CoV-2. Immunizations against monkey pox are already available, and France and Denmark have begun recommending vaccination for anyone who has come into contact with an infected individual.
