Maine Implements Virtual Dental Homes for At-Risk Children
The Children’s Oral Health Network of Maine is launching virtual dental homes for children across the state who do not have access to dental services. Funded through a $650,000 federal grant, the program uses teledentistry to enable dentists to evaluate patients and create treatment plans. The actual dental care is provided in either school- or primary-care based settings by dental hygienists. Thus far, two programs are already operating with three more set to begin throughout the state by the end of the summer. Click here to read more.
