HHS Warns of Insider Cybersecurity Threats to Healthcare, Including Dentistry
The United States Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) issued a warning about the risk of insider threats to healthcare providers’ cybersecurity on April 21, 2022. The HHS defines an insider threat as: “a person within a healthcare organization, or a contractor, who has access to assets or inside information concerning the organization’s security practices, data, and computer systems. The person could use this information in a way that negatively impacts the organization.” These “insiders” have the potential to engage in fraud, steal data, and vandalize computer systems.
