Mask Wearing Remains the Norm in the Dental Setting

According to a poll conducted by the American Dental Association Health Policy Institute, approximately 67% of dental practices are still requiring patients to mask up while in the waiting room and prior to the start of treatment. Approximately 70% of dental practices require clinical staff to mask throughout the workday and 62% insist that front office and other non-clinical team members remain masked. The percentage of practices requiring patient masking was higher in the 20 largest cities in the United States (75.2%) and lower in rural areas (51.3%). The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention relaxed indoor mask requirements on February 25, stating that indoor mask wearing is not necessary in areas where COVID-19 transmission is low.
