International Collaboration Launched to Investigate Long COVID-19

0

More than 100 million people across the globe have reported enduring symptoms long after their SARS-CoV-2 infections have resolved. Researchers from three countries that have been greatly impacted by the pandemic are collaborating to learn more about long COVID-19. The University of Illinois Chicago, University of Derby and Sheffield Hallam University both in the United Kingdom, and Ramaiah Medical College in India are conducting 16-week trials on patients who have recovered from COVID-19 but still face symptoms, such as fever, malaise, respiratory problems, chest pain, headaches, cognitive issues, and mental health impairments. Researchers will use a variety of clinical tests in addition to in-person and telemedicine visits and patient surveys to better understand how to create long-term treatment plans to improve health outcomes in this patient population.
