
Kids Ages 12 to 15 Get Green Light for COVID-19 Booster Shot
The United States Food and Drug Administration approved a booster shot of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine for children ages 12 to 15. Previously, the Pfizer booster was only available to those ages 16 and older. Pfizer is the only COVID-19 vaccine approved for children. The agency also green lighted the Pfizer booster shot for children ages 5 to 11 who are immunocompromised. Public health officials hope the booster will prevent a significant outbreak in schools, many of which are opening this week during the highly transmissible Omicron wave of the global pandemic.
