US Reaches Sobering COVID-19 Milestone

As of December 14, 2021, more than 800,000 Americans have died due to COVID-19. This is approximately the same number of Americans who die annually due to heart disease or stroke. The United States has the highest morbidity rate of any country. While comprising only 4% of the world population, the US has 15% of global COVID-19 deaths. More than 200,000 deaths occurred after COVID-19 vaccines were widely available. Approximately 60% of the American population has been vaccinated against the novel coronavirus.
