As COVID-19 Cases Rise, More Restrictions Return

While we all hoped that this holiday season would bring a greater return to “normal,” the arrival of the Omicron variant of SARS-CoV-2 has sent cases skyrocketing and the revisiting of pandemic restrictions. New York State has seen an epic rise in COVID-19 metrics with more than 20,000 positive cases recorded on December 17 and December 18. Case numbers have risen by 50% across the United States since the start of December. These disheartening numbers have led to the cancellation of Broadway shows, professional sports events, and in-person dining. Some schools, including Harvard University, will revert to remote learning at the start of the new year.
