Data from Johns Hopkins University show that the number of deaths due to COVID-19 in 2021 is higher than the total death toll in 2020 in the United States. Thus far, 386,000 deaths due to COVID-19 have been reported this year. In 2020, the total number of COVID-19 deaths was 386,000.
