SARS-CoV-2 Infection Provides More Immunity Than Vaccination
An Israeli study has found that the antibodies produced post-SARS-CoV-2 infection offer greater immunity than those generated by the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine. While both the Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines offer protection against COVID-19, the natural immunity provided by infection decreases the risk of catching the Delta variant and significantly reduces illness severity and hospitalization. Researchers also found that those who had recovered from SARS-CoV-2 infection and then received one dose of the Pfizer vaccine were the least likely to be reinfected with the Delta variant.
