CDC Says 83% of COVID-19 Cases Are Caused by the Delta Variant
After a period of decreasing cases and growing hope for the end of the global pandemic, the Delta variant of SARS-CoV-2 is now spreading quickly across the globe, including the United States. Officials from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced during a Senate hearing on COVID-19 that 83% of the nation’s new cases are from the Delta variant. Two weeks ago, the Delta variant was responsible for just over 50% of new cases.
