One Shot May Be Enough for Those Who Have Recovered From COVID-19
Research from the University of Pennsylvania demonstrates that one dose of either the Pfizer or Moderna COVID-19 vaccine is enough to facilitate an adequate antibody response among those who have recovered from COVID-19 illness. Those who have never been infected with SARS-CoV-2, however, will need two doses to initiate a similar response. The study measured memory B cells, which are effective at estimating a person’s antibody response, and found that the mRNA vaccines capably prepared memory B cells for COVID’s well-known spike protein. Regardless of whether an individual had been infected with SARS-CoV-2 previously or not, the immune response prompted by the vaccines declined with age. Click here to read more.
