Drug Used to Treat Parasites Does Not Mitigate Mild COVID-19 Illness
A randomized controlled clinical trial published in the Journal of the American Medical Association has found that the drug ivermectin, traditionally used to eradicate parasites, is not helpful in alleviating mild COVID-19 illness. Once touted as a possible game changer in the fight against COVID-19, the study, which included 400 participants, found no statistically significant difference between the outcomes of patients with COVID-19 who were treated with ivermectin and those who did not receive the drug.
