
Mask Wearing to Stay With Us Indefinitely
While there has been a plethora of good news regarding the COVID-19 pandemic—from declining case rates to increasing numbers of Americans being vaccinated—Anthony Fauci, MD, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, has advised that mask wearing will remain an important facet of preventing the spread of SARS-CoV-2 for months to come. He suggests that until between 75% and 80% of all Americans are vaccinated, the public health measures, including mask wearing, implemented to contain the pandemic should remain. The United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention also released a statement recently on the benefits of wearing two masks to prevent infection with the novel coronavirus.
