IAS Academy: When Everything Stops, Learning Continues
The IAS Academy says new online courses have been received with unprecedented enthusiasm.
The IAS Academy says new online courses have been received with unprecedented enthusiasm. The academy has been publishing online training courses since lockdown restrictions came into force across the UK in 2020. The courses feature training on a range of subjects and many of the academy’s most popular classroom training modules.
Learners can log on to find training by course leaders Tif Qureshi, BDS, IAS director, and Ross Hobson, BDS, MDS, PhD, FDS, MDOrth (RCPS), FDS (RCS Ed), FDS (RCS Eng), SFHEA, on clear aligners and the Dahl Principle, delivered alongside the academy’s Complete Ortho Restorative Course.
And just like the academy’s classroom training, online delegates can take advantage of the academy’s case mentoring to help them put new skills safely and confidently into practice. Key to the course’s success and popularity is the availability of IAS mentors to guide and support learners as they put new techniques into practice for the first time. IAS Academy offers a secure online forum where course attendees can submit case information and imagery to receive expert support from the academy’s panel of mentors.
As well as moving existing training online, the academy has also introduced new material to its online campus and welcomed Shiraz Khan, BDS, B(Med)Sc(Hons), MJDFRCS(Eng), PG Dip, PG Cert, to the teaching team. Khan’s new material on mastering clinical photography for record-keeping and marketing is already becoming one of the academy’s most downloaded modules, according to IAS Academy.
Shiraz Khan’s Clinical Photography Course explains some of the industry standards for capturing images of orthodontic and restorative work. He talks about positioning patients to gain clear and complete defensible imagery and shows delegates around digital SLR cameras.
Online training, including Shiraz Khan’s Clinical Photography Course, is available on the IAS Academy website at elearning.iasortho.com. The photography course will be available in the classroom later in the year, along with a new classroom course on composites.
The academy will add new modules and training throughout 2021 and beyond. For more information on IAS Academy, visit iasortho.com.
